I am researching my ggggrandfather, August Bartels b. Oct. 21, 1832/1831 in Oldenburg. His father also is said to be August Bartels. He came to N.Y.C. and married Catherine Wascher from Wurttemberg ( Stuggart) by 1855. They were Luthern. They had children named Sophie, Wilhemenia, August, Theresa, Edward all b. in N.Y. which leads me to believe they were married in the U.S.A. Catherine's parents are listed as William and Catherine WALKER who came to the U.S. in the early 1850's or late 1840's. Any help you could give me would be very much appreciated.
